TX-E featured by Colac Otway Shire for regional connectivity innovation
We're proud to share that TX-E has reciently been featured in the Colac Otway Shire Council newsletter, which highlights how a local connectivity problem turned into a business.
TX-E started with a problem we knew well. When founder David McKeown and his wife moved from Melbourne to Lavers Hill in 2017, they gained the lifestyle, the landscape and the community. They also found that internet and mobile coverage drops off quickly once you step away from the house.
Plenty of regional households and businesses are in the same spot. The fixes on offer were often expensive, hard to install, or built for people with an IT background. David's scientific and technical background led him to a simpler approach.
How TX-E works
TX-E uses WiFi HaLow (802.11ah), a long-range wireless standard that travels further and handles obstacles like trees, terrain and steel sheds better than standard WiFi. One unit connects to your existing NBN, Starlink or 4G router and the other picks up the signal where you need it, up to 1.5 km away. You don't need new SIM plans, cables between buildings or a technician.
Connect carries your internet to sheds, outbuildings and remote areas of your property.
Roam is a portable device that keeps your phone, laptop and other devices online as you move around.
What's next
"We're really just getting started," David said. As farms and regional businesses become more connected and automated, he sees plenty of room for this technology to grow.
For Colac Otway, TX-E shows that a local problem can lead to a solution that works well beyond the region. For us, it's a good reminder of why we do this: reliable coverage shouldn't stop at the back door.
Thank you to Colac Otway Shire for the recognition, and to everyone who has backed TX-E so far.
