TX-E's long-range Connect - Outdoor WiFi HaLow router is now available through Farm Tech Solutions as the TX Horizen Whole of Farm WiFi Transmitter, bringing whole-of-property rural WiFi to more Australian farms.

TX-E devices can now pick up an existing WiFi HaLow signal and rebroadcast it as a second hop, extending a long-range network further across a property or around obstacles like hills and dense timber, without needing new cable or a second internet connection. Key points: What's new: Relay mode adds a third operating role to TX-E hardware, alongside the existing "broadcast from internet" and "receive HaLow, output local WiFi" modes. A device can now receive HaLow on one radio and rebroadcast HaLow on the other. Why it matters: Line of sight has always been the limiting factor for long-range WiFi. Relay mode lets a device positioned mid-property (on a ridge, shed roof, or post) carry the signal past whatever's blocking it. Power: Connect - Outdoor draws just 0.25W idle in relay mode (even running both an uplink and downlink simultaneously) and 2.25W under active transmission, making it viable to run indefinitely off a small solar panel and battery. Use cases: Hilly/blocked terrain, multi-stage properties extending past the 1.5km single-station range, and dense timber or built structures. Availability: Ships as a firmware update to existing Connect - Outdoor units, enabled by default on new orders. TX-E, an Australian hardware maker based in regional Victoria, has published real-world range test results for its WiFi HaLow product range, recording usable throughput at 1.5 kilometres. The devices are built around purpose-built embedded firmware and a USB web configurator, making them the first HaLow hardware designed for DIY installation by non-technical property owners.
