Based in regional Victoria.

We see the problem every day.

TX-E is based in Lavers Hill, on the Great Ocean Road. Out here, poor connectivity isn't a news story — it's just Tuesday. It's a neighbour who can't call for help from their paddock. A farm shed with no signal. A second dwelling that's 200 metres from the router and completely cut off.

Why we started

Rural connectivity has been an unsolved problem for a long time — not because the technology doesn't exist, but because the available solutions were either too expensive, too complex, or designed for someone with an IT background and a technician on speed dial.

Living and working in regional Victoria, we kept seeing the same situation: people putting up with poor coverage because fixing it felt out of reach. The options on the market assumed you'd pay for a professional install, or that you'd enjoy configuring network hardware on a weekend.

We thought there had to be a better way — and when we found WiFi HaLow, we built one.

The technology we chose — and why

WiFi HaLow (802.11ah)

TX-E systems are built on WiFi HaLow (802.11ah) — a long-range wireless standard that behaves completely differently from the WiFi in your home router.

Where standard WiFi reaches 20–30 metres and bounces off walls, HaLow travels kilometres, passes through corrugated iron, dense bush, and farm structures, and uses a fraction of the power.

We evaluated alternatives — repeaters, mesh networks, point-to-point microwave links — and found that HaLow was the only option that combined genuine range with the simplicity of a two-unit plug-and-go install.

No specialist required, no antenna alignment, no programming. It works with the internet connection you already have: Starlink, NBN, or 4G.
