How to Set Up Long-Range WiFi — Done Before Your Coffee Goes Cold
If you've been putting off sorting out your WiFi because you assumed it would mean calling a technician, running cables, or spending a weekend figuring it out — you're not alone. Most people do.
But here's what our customers keep telling us: setting up TX-E is almost suspiciously easy. So let's walk through it.
What TX-E is — and what it isn't
TX-E is built to deliver reliable, usable WiFi to the places your current setup doesn't reach. Simply and without fuss.
If you're after the fastest possible speeds or the most technically sophisticated network, TX-E probably isn't the right fit. But if you want solid, dependable coverage somewhere you don't have it today — and you want to set it up yourself without any drama — you're in the right place.
What you're actually doing
Two TX-E devices. One sits near your router. The other goes wherever you need coverage — a shed, a back room, a granny flat, a distant corner of your property. The two talk to each other over long-range WiFi HaLow, and your network is extended.
No cables between them. No technician. No drama.
For most people — around 90% of our customers — two TX-E Connect Indoor units are all they need.
Setting up the first device (the one near your router)
Connect your TX-E device to your computer via USB, then head to tx-e.com.au/setup. The setup page walks you through everything — connect to your existing WiFi network, configure the device to broadcast the long-range signal. Done.
The whole thing takes a few minutes.
Setting up the second device (the one at the other end)
Same process, the other way around. Connect to your computer, go to the setup page, and this time configure it to pick up the long-range signal from the first device and broadcast standard WiFi at your destination.
That's it. Your devices at the far end can now connect just like they would at home.
One handy tip
If your home has particularly thick walls or tricky building materials, here's a simple trick: place the first device near a window. It doesn't need a clear line of sight to the second unit, but giving it a less obstructed path can make a noticeable difference. Most people don't need to do this, but it's worth knowing if you run into any trouble.
